Karen S. Sheipline HERSHEY Karen S. Sheipline (72) formerly of Columbus, Ohio, died Sunday, September 8, 2013, at her home, while under Hospice care. She was born September 10, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Roy and Sylvia (Wear) Reed. Karen is survived by: husband, Larry L. Sheipline of Hershey; two brothers, Frank J. Reed Sr. of Columbus, Ohio and William (Bill) A. Reed (Sheila) of Bexley Ohio. She was a 1958 graduate of Bexley High School, Bexley Ohio, attended The Ohio State University majoring in Fine Arts and the Columbus School of Art. Karen held senior administrative positions at several non-profit corporations, including WITF Public Broadcasting Co. She concluded her career as an administrative assistant, The Harrisburg Foundation. Karen was very active in the local arts scene. She performed four-part harmony in four Sweet Adelines International choruses and quartets in PA: Red Rose City, Lancaster, and Greater Harrisburg Chorus. She also was a Fine Artist who displayed her work regionally and had won several regional awards in oil, watercolor and pastel. Karen was a four-term President of Hershey Area Art Association; two-term Board of Directors, Atlantic Bay-Mountain Region 19, Sweet Adelines International; and a former Derry Township Republican Committeewoman. She was a member of the Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg and Hershey Area Art Associations and the National Museum of Woman in the Arts. A visitation wil be held Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 422 & Lucy Avenue in Hershey, with a funeral service beginning at 7 p.m. A subsequent service will be held in Columbus with interment in the Forrest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Columbus, Ohio.
