Sheryl A. Pierce HARRISBURG Sheryl A. Pierce, 46, formerly of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the Harrisburg Hospital. She was born in Ephrata, a daughter of Frank and Joanna Shreiner Pierce, Herndon. She was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as Director, Racing Enforcement, Department of Agriculture, State Horse and Harness Racing Commission. She was a graduate of Eastern Lebanon County High School Class of 1985 and was a Phi Beta Kappa Honors graduate of HACC, receiving an Associate in Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. She pursued further education at Penn State University. She was a part-time EMT with First Aid & Safety Patrol. She enjoyed hunting. From 1987 to 2001, she was a police officer for South Londonderry Twp., being promoted to Sergeant in 1992. She served from 1998 to 2004 as State Conductor of Pennsylvania State Lodge FOP and from 2004 to present was State Treasurer and was presently Chairman of History Committee of the National Lodge. She received over 2,500 hours of law enforcement related and other training, including the Anne B. Anstine Excellence in Public Service Series. Sheryl was currently a member and treasurer of PA Law Enforcement Foundation, past president Lebanon Lodge #42 FOP and member of Lebanon County Chiefs Association. She was a past member of PA D.A.R.E. Officers Association, National D.A.R.E. Officers Association, PA Polygraph Association, American Association of Police Polygraphists, Boy Scouts PA Dutch Council and Lebanon County Drug Prevention Council. In 1988 she received Commendation from S. Londonderry Twp. for outstanding work, in 1991 she received the Herman Heisey Award for Outstanding Police Officer in Lebanon County, she was honored four times by M.A.D.D. for outstanding work, in 1996 she received a Commendation from Attorney General's Office for outstanding service for municipal drug task force work and in 1998 she received Nationally Credentialed Law Enforcement Officer. Surviving in addition to her parents are a nephew, Erik Ginter and aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Ginter. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Sheryl's Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday at 11 a.m. from Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 320 Church Ave, Ephrata, PA 17522 with the Rev. Fr. John McLoughlin as celebrant. Family and Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Porterfield-Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, Ltd, 890 Isabel Dr., (next to Quentin Circle), Lebanon, PA 17042. Burial will be made in Memory Gardens, Ephrata. Family prefers in lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in Sheryl's memory be made to PA FOP Foundation, 2949 N.
