Frederick L. Snyder LICKDALE Frederick L. "Fred" Snyder, 78, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Harrisburg Hospital. He was the husband of Emily E. Clements Snyder. They would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on June 4th. Born in Lebanon on June 3, 1935, he was the son of the late Amos and Anna Demler Snyder. He had worked for E. H. Gerhart Lumberyard and later was self-employed as a carpenter. After retirement, he enjoyed many summers working for Northern Lebanon School District as the summer work crew supervisor. Fred was a member of the Trinity U.M. Church, Lickdale and an honorary member of the Lickdale Fire Co., where he held positions as President, Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Police. He was a member of the Olivet Lodge No. 704 and the Zembo Shrine. He also served as a member of the Northern Lebanon School Board. Fred enjoyed traveling and camping. In one of the trips to Florida, he learned to carve and he made many carvings for his family and friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Debra Mengel and husband Michael of Fredericksburg; two sons, Timothy and wife Elaine, Paul and wife Crystal, both of Lickdale; five grandchildren, Joseph Mengel and wife Megan, Jessica Mengel, Bradley Snyder, Luke Snyder and Hope Snyder; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his five sisters. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 4 p.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown. There will be no viewing, but a visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the start of the service.
