Vernon S. Lape Obituary
Vernon S. Lape RICHLAND Vernon S. Lape, 64, died Friday, August 15, 2014, at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Born in Stricklerstown, Lebanon Co., on August 20, 1949, he was the son of Samuel G. Noll of Richland, and the late Stella (Weidner) Lape. He was a 1967 graduate of ELCO High School and served in the U.S. Air Force and the National Guard. Vernon was employed as a shipping supervisor at Gloray Knitting Mills, Robesonia, for many years until retirement. He was a member of the Womelsdorf VFW, Womelsdorf Rod & Gun Club, Marion Rod & Gun Club, Richland American Legion, and the Newmanstown Athletic Assn. He enjoyed restoring and showing classic cars, repairing lawn mowers, coin collecting, and visits with his grandchildren. In addition to his father, Vernon is survived by daughters, Jennifer Lape of Baltimore, Md., and Katrina Mayhew and husband, Tim of Hanover; grandchildren, Henry and Caroline Mayhew; his companion, Michelle Heilinger of Womelsdorf; sisters, Sandra Brossman and husband, Jerry, and Jeanette Benethum; brothers, Carroll Lape and wife, Linda, Roger Lape, and Larry Lape and wife, Aleta; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lape. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Millcreek Memorial Cemetery, Newmanstown.
