Thomas Russell Fertig, Jr., 81, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016, in the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of the late Patricia A. Rambler Fertig.
He was born in Lebanon, on August 29, 1934, a son of the late Thomas R. Fertig, Sr. and the late Mary Frantz Fertig.
He served as a police officer for the City of Lebanon for 15 years after serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1960. After retiring from the police force he worked for Ron Shirk as a salesman.
He was a member of many local fire departments, the F.O.P., and he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by a son, Michael Fertig and wife, Cynthia; daughter, Carlin, wife of Jimmy Reece; grandchildren, Jeremy Fake, Christina Fake, Michelle Fake, Rebecca Rutter, and Airman Jason Fertig; and great-grandchildren, Kylie and Madison Rutter, Faith Spenser, Allie and Grayson Whitman, and Serena, David, Damien, Michael, and Kirstie Fake.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon 17042, where a viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to the time of service. Interment will be private.
