It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Coops on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the age of 98 years. Anne was predeceased by her father Jakob Herold; stepfather Joseph Froh; mother Anna Froh; first husband John H. Leier; second husband George A. Coops; brother Frank Froh; and son Richard F. Leier. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Donald (Judith) Leier; daughter-in-law Lucille Leier; five grandchildren, Lisa Harris, Kirsten Leier, Bradley (Yoko) Leier, Jennifer (Scott) Gelowitz and Angela (Casper) Bagamery; nine great grandchildren, Ty-Lane and Hudson Harris, Jessica, Zachary, Rachel and Rebecca Gelowitz and Quintin, Arianna and Liam Bagamery; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Anne was born on June 22, 1914 in Velika, Greda, Banat, Yugoslavia. She immigrated to Canada aboard the Empress of Scotland on July 2, 1924 and settled in Khedive, SK. She finished her education in Regina, and worked as a dental nurse from 1932 to 1934. On February 5, 1934 she married John H. Leier at St. Mary's (currently Blessed Sacrament). John passed away on March 19, 1971. She married George A. Coops on August 31, 1973. Anne had a long history of service to the community and to her church. She served in numerous organizations including the CWL (53 years), the Knights of Columbus Ladies (member and president), St. Mary's choir, and Volksliederchor "Harmonie" (member and president). She was also the chairperson of numerous interprovincial and international choir festivals, a member of the Imperial Oil Ltd. Annuitants club; president of St. Joseph's Home and School Association, and president of the St. Charles Alter Society. She will be greatly missed. A VISITATION FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK. A FUNERAL MASS will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 2026 Winnipeg Street, Regina, SK with a reception to follow at Regina Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers of 4A at the Pasqua Hospital and the 4th Floor staff of the Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
