October 15, 1935 - August 18, 2012
Carol Adamson passed away in Regina on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the age of 76 years. Carol was born October 15, 1935, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. In 1945, she moved with her family to Regina. She was active in the Anglican Church throughout her life, first as a youth group member, then later as a minister's wife and a layperson, and finally answering the call to the priesthood herself. Carol loved knowledge, excelling in academics at all levels of formal education. She received a Bachelor's degree in English, a Master's in Psychology, and later a Master's of Divinity from Emmanuel and St. Chad's at the University of Saskatchewan. Throughout her life she read voraciously and joined study groups. On her own, she studied academic teachings and the Bible both from a religious and a historical perspective. She married Rodney Adamson in 1959, and raised her four children in Prince Albert and Regina. She had a great love of nature and the outdoors, taking her family camping, hiking, skiing, and canoeing. She enjoyed travel, crossing the Atlantic four times by steamship, first attending the Queen's coronation with a youth group and later travelling for three months through Europe and the UK. Later she enjoyed driving to visit her children across the country, and taking trips with them. Carol knew the value of hard work which she showed as a student, a social worker, a teacher, a stay-at-home and a single mother, a clinical psychologist, a parish priest, a hospital chaplain, and finally as a clergy consultant, helping the church transition to modern life. Her deep concern for people, her insightfulness and problem-solving abilities, and above all her incredible and impish sense of humour will be forever missed. Carol is survived by her children Mike of North Bay, ON; Paul (Tracy) of Richmond, BC; Heather (Bob) of Aurora, ON; and Judy (Ginette) of Ottawa, ON; her brother Don Goss, sister Cecile Goss; and grandchildren Cuyler, Emily, Kieran, and Tiana; and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Cecil and Hilda Goss. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Cathedral, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Primates World Relief and Development Fund (pwrdf.org) or the St. Paul's Building in Faith Fund, (stpaulsregina.com).
