Chantelle DESMARAIS Obituary
After a courageous and inspiring battle against inflammatory breast cancer Chantelle passed away in the arms of her soul mate Blair and in the presence of her Mom Dona, her Dad Ray and her brother Andre. Chantelle shone from the beginning. She was born and spent her early years in Owen Sound, Ontario before moving to Regina where she attended school and went on to meet the love of her life Blair Ledingham in 1997. Chantelle and Blair married in 2002 and were blessed with 3 beautiful children, Ava (9), Sophia (7), and Lincoln (4). Her love for Blair and her precious babies was beyond measure. Without exception, every time they walked in or out the door they were hugged, kissed, and told they were loved. She said the words "I love you" with such incredible passion that despite hearing it numerous times each and every day it never ever lost its impact. Chantelle and Blair's love for each other was staggering and was only exceeded by the love for their children. Chantelle's incredibly generous heart and love for her family was inspirational and admired by many. Her passion extended to all areas of her life and as a result she was surrounded by a phenomenal group of friends who were drawn by her infectious laugh, smile and ability to love. She had a way of making everyone around feel so important to her and she cared deeply about those in her life. Chantelle's ability to inspire was taken to a level beyond words during her battle against cancer. The grace, poise and love of life she exhibited during her fight touched and inspired an incredible amount of people. Chantelle's tremendous inner beauty truly shone in every aspect of her life. In order to honor Chantelle and celebrate her amazing "Shine" as well as pay forward the generosity of those who supported her and her family during her fight against cancer a foundation is being set up to assist other families in similar circumstances. Thus in lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that donations be considered for the soon to be registered Shine on Chantelle Foundation, c/o 3911 Thames Road, Regina, SK S4V 3A5. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Conexus Arts Centre, 200 Lakeshore Drive, Regina, SK on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. A celebration will follow at the Arts Centre. I only met Chantelle a couple of times when our daughters were in a session of Girls in the Game. I heard of her breast cancer diagnosis shortly after my own last year.
