CHARLES NUGENT
Apr 21, 1938 - Dec 7, 2012
It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Nugent announces his passing on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the age of 74 years. Charles taught school for 25 years in Sedley. Illness forced him to retire in 1987. It is said that "to teach is to touch a life forever." His family would like to thank those who taught with him, those who worked with him and the students he taught over the years for wonderful memories. He was active on several boards in Sedley before his retirement including the Credit Union Board, the Rink Board, the Gym Hall Board and the Celebrate Saskatchewan Committee. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Dolores (nee Metz); his daughter Rose Marie (Bryan Leier) and their children Deidre, Garret (Sarah nee Lenz) and Jeadel; Michael (Joanne McCall) and Denise Mack mother of Michael's children Crystal (Mark Schott), Adam (Jessica Zhang) and Kerri Jo; Mary Ann (Bryan Milne); James; Carol (Leif Nordstrom) and their children Frank and Hannah; as well as four great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Brodie Leier; and Lucas and Dylan Schott. Charles is also survived by his brother John of Dilke and his sisters Ella Scully of San Mateo, Ca. and Sister Rosa of St. Paul, Minnesota. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Marie Nugent; his in-laws George and Rosina Metz; his brother Father Frank Nugent; his sister Eileen Padilla; and his sister Helen who died in infancy. Special thanks to the health care providers that helped Charles bravely face illness and pain for many years; particularly Dr. Bester, Shirley, University Park Pharmacy, the Cancer Clinic and the Palliative Care Team at the Pasqua Hospital. Charles was a great Dad and will be sorely missed. One of his favourite sayings comes from an anonymous writer:
Our family is a circle of love and strength.
With every birth and every union, the circle grows.
Every joy shared adds more love.
Every crisis faced together makes the circle stronger.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Avenue East, Regina, Saskatchewan at 7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Church at Dilke, Saskatchewan - the same church where Dolores and Charles were married by Fr. Frank Nugent in 1960. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice.
