ASCHENBRENER, George Vandel April 24, 1930 - May 7, 2018 George Vandel Aschenbrener was born to Rudolph and Annie on the old place NW-10-24-16, on April 24, 1930 in the Fox Hills District, SK. George attended Fox Hills school and Marigold school until the eighth grade, when he left to go help his dad on the farm. He had a great passion for farming, trapping and anything outdoors that started from a very young age. George trapped and picked up jobs usually working on farms as a hired hand to one day pursue his dream of having his very own farm. In 1953 George purchased his first quarter of land, SE-15-24-16, where he established the start of his dream. George married the love of his life Mary on October 18, 1955 on Mary's parents' farm near Kylemore, SK. He loved his animals especially dogs, horses and livestock, which he told many stories about. He was proud of the farm he had grown and how it is still carrying on today. George loved visiting and always had a great story or joke to tell with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. George passed away peacefully with family by his side on May 7, 2018. He was predeceased by his parents; Rudolph and Annie Aschenbrener; siblings John, Albert and Therasa; great-granddaughter Erica Aschenbrener; along with many other relatives. George leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 62 years Mary; son Brian (Donna) Aschenbrener; grandchildren David (Melissa), Jonathan (Gerry), Michael (Cassie), Wayne (Kirsten); great-grandchildren Emily, Brayden, Leah and Becca; sister Jean Nargang; daughter Leila (Joe) Brodner; grandchildren Daniel (Adriana), Mark (Carey), Teri; great-grandchildren Hudson and Sadie; along with many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held in Cupar, SK at the Cupar Town Hall, 901 Assiniboia Avenue, on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. The family extends a sincere thank you to George's family in the Cupar Shalom.
