LEECH, Herbert Richard (Dick)
Dick passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at the age of 67 years in the Regina General Hospital. Dick was born June 4, 1946 in Regina, SK. He was predeceased by his parents Alma and Jack Leech in 1989; in-laws Harold and Dorothy Bean; brother-in-law Allan Coult; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dick is survived by his sons Todd (Angie) Leech, Ryan (Kathy) Leech; grandchildren Mackenzie, Evan and Jack Leech, mother of his children Sue (Howard) Duncan; sister Eunice Coult; brother James Leech; and nieces and nephews Colin, Lianne, Cheryl, Nathan, Conner, Alexis, Ashley and Arden; aunts Eunice Wagman, Shirley Konanz, Olga Cross; one remaining uncle, Ken Beckett; as well as numerous cousins and their families on both the Leech and Cross sides. Dick was raised in Regina and was very active in the sporting community both as a player and coach. He played football for the Balfour Redmen and Regina Rams and coached at Central Collegiate. Dick was on the bench for most of his children's minor hockey teams and played for many years with the Regina Ramparts old timers where he built lifelong friendships. He enjoyed playing golf until health no longer permitted him to do so. Dick followed in his father's footsteps and became a builder working in both residential and commercial real estate and construction leaving an impression throughout Regina. Later in life he opened a small retail outlet in the Southland Mall where he was able to spend his days meeting new faces and visiting with old friends. Dick's sense of humor, quick wit and infectious laugh saw him through some very difficult times as his health diminished. He was courageous in the face of each obstacle he encountered. His strong character and warm smile will be missed by his many friends and family. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dick may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8. Family and friends are invited to sign the online obituary and tributes page at www.regina-memorial.ca.
