HOWARD JOHNSON ELSTAD
Surrounded by family, Howard Elstad, passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Howard was predeceased by his sisters, Ethel Hill and Winnifred Pickering; sister-in-law, Freda Gillis; brothers-in-law, Ernest Suffsick, Ernest Steffenson, Ray Hill, Art Pickering and Maurice McKaig. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Elstad; daughters, Phyllis Mews (Wayne) and Freda Coupal (Dwight); grandchildren, Kandi Carpenter (Dave), Shaun Mews, Michelle Coupal, Krysta Coupal (Jesse Cheng) of Calgary, and Colin Coupal (Riley Kemp); sisters, Gertie Mary Suffsick, Edith Lorraine Steffenson and Muriel McKaig, and sister-in-law, Esther Curtis. Howard was born on March 30, 1919. He was raised and farmed in the Sintaluta District. He served in the Armed Forces from 1941-1944. In retirement Howard and Gertie moved to Regina to be near family. A Family Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Riverside Chapel, 815 Assiniboine Ave. E., Regina, SK with interment at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. A special thank you goes to the caregivers in the Veterans Ward at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in Howard's memory may be forwarded to the Veterans Program at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre.
