McSWEENEY, Hugh "Meade"
Hugh Meade, late of Fort Qu'Appelle, SK, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16th, at the age of 91. Meade was born and raised in Cupar SK, and farmed there with his brother until retiring. The farm is now over 100 years old and is owned/operated by his son-in-law, Elton Fiege. Meade is pre deceased by his parents; Richard and Elizabeth, his loving wife; Dot, his siblings and their spouses; Keith (Bud), Beth (Archie) MacPhail of Melville SK, Thorne (age 4 months), and his son-in-law, Lynden Johnson. Meade is lovingly remembered by his daughters; Lynne (Lynden) Johnson of Ottawa, ON, Brenda (Elton) Fiege of Lipton SK; and Lorie (Bob) Jackson of Drumheller AB, as well as by 6 grandchildren (and 4 spouses), 5 great grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren. Meade served during WWII in the RCAF in both Canada and overseas, and was an active member of the Cupar Legion. He was also involved in many community organizations. Funeral service will be held at Cupar United Church at 2:30 pm on Thursday, November 21, 2013, followed by burial at the Cupar Cemetery and tea at the Cupar Legion Hall. Also, a memorial get together will be held in the common room at Hudson Manor in Fort Qu'Appelle at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 20th. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, MS Society, or organization of your choice.
