Joan Mclane passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Joan was born on October 18, 1926 in England. She moved to Lauder, Manitoba in 1929, at the age of 3 and lived there until the age of 13 when she moved to Goodwater with her sister Betty and Walter Thackeray. She remained in Goodwater until 2000 when she moved with Ken to Weyburn and after Ken passed away she move to Regina in 2009. She was predeceased by her parents Jane and John Watson, brothers Graham and Bill Watson and sister Betty Thackeray. She was also predeceased by her first husband Melton Lokken and by her second husband Ken Mclane. She is survived by her daughters Margaret "Peggy" (Cliff) Halladay Regina, SK, Elizabeth "Liz" (Gerald ) Walkeden Tribune, SK, Lorna (Osvaldo "Os") Montanini, Regina, SK, grandchildren Jennifer (Scott) Lizuck and daughter Natalie, Nancy Lizuck, Jeff (Joanne) Walkeden and son Nathan and daughter Ella, Kyle (Michelle) Walkeden and daughters Sophie, Madison, and Claire, Erin (Mike) Bell and daughter Lydia, Kristopher Montanini and Miranda Montanini. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Sharon (Mel) Kitzul, Susan (Bill) Forsberg, Graham (Darlene) Thackeray, Ernie (Gladys) Lokken, Gary (Helene) Litschke, Ron (Willie) Litschke, Rita (Jack) Haberman and numerous other nieces and nephews. Joan was very involved with the Goodwater Hospital Auxiliary and the United Church Women's group. She also enjoyed many sports and participated as long as she was able in golfing and curling, attending many tournaments and bonspiels in southern Saskatchewan. She was an avid sports fan cheering for the Toronto Blue Jays, the Toronto Maple Leafs and would not miss a Saskatchewan Roughrider game on television. She also enjoyed travelling near and far on holidays and spent many summers at the cottage at Kenosee Lake. Joan took every opportunity she could to watch her grandchildren participate in sports and other activities. Joan really enjoyed hosting family and friends and was known far and wide for her famous apple pies and butter tarts. For family and friends so wishing, donations in memory of Joan may be made to the Grace United Church Fund, Radville & District Health Centre Foundation, Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation or a Charity of Choice. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK. A Funeral Service for Joan will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. from Grace United Church, Weyburn, SK with Rev. M. Barnabas, officiating. Interment to follow at Goodwater Cemetery, Goodwater, SK. Active Pallbearers will be Joan's Grandchildren.
