Matilda, aged 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2012. She was born on a farm near Fox Valley, SK, and moved to Prelate, SK, when she was four years old. Matilda moved to Southey area as a teacher, where she taught at Kingsville School. She married Carl in 1944, and spent many years on the farm near Southey. They then moved to Southey in 1993. In 2008, she moved to Regina to live in a senior assisted facility. In July of 2011, she moved to Greenway Country Care Home in Earl Grey, where she received wonderful care. Matilda is predeceased by her husband, Carl; daughter Gaylene; sisters Helen, Rose, Clara, Anne; and numerous in-laws. She leaves to mourn sons Earl (Gloria), and Marshall (Shirley); grandchildren Tina (Marc), Michelle (Jody), Derek (Cara), Kent (Eunice), Christal (Robin), Robert (Sherry), Patricia (Kurt); and thirteen great grandchildren; brothers John (Mary), Oliver; sisters Isabelle and Sister Joan; son-in-law Neil; sisters-in-law Emily, Dorothy, Eula, and Elsie P.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Matilda's passions were her flowers and gardening. She crocheted many, many doilies and loved to read. Also, she really enjoyed a good game of cards and had a terrific memory for telling jokes. But her greatest love were her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. A Service Celebrating Matilda's Life will be held at St. James Catholic Church, Southey, SK, on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in Matilda's memory can be made to Greenway Country Care Home, Box 337, Earl Grey, SK S0G 1J0.
