Met Kirk in Paramedic School. Amazing guy. Passionate about what he loved to do. Wish I got to know him better. Gonna try to heed his advice everyday.

I befriended Kirk when we were both working at the Forrest Kerr project in Northern BC as paramedics. In the all too brief period of time that I knew him, I came to admire his zest for life, his love of diving and of the outdoors, his free spirit, and his absolutely impeccable work ethic. I was stunned when Kirk broke the news of his diagnosis, and was devastated when i learned he had gone so soon.
Kirk and I shared a great admiration for Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens. We both shared a deep appreciation for science and critical thinking, and eschewed superstition and religion. Kirk remained true to his convictions until the end, and he faced his fate with amazing courage and dignity.
I feel his loss deeply and I hope Kirk's family will take some comfort in knowing how loved and admired he really was.

I met Kirk Diving in the Galapagos about 5 years ago. We had a great couple of weeks and when we decided we needed to go again last year Kirk was keen to join us. Another great trip to the remote islands of Darwin and Wolfe. Kirk's life was tragically cut short, but he had done so many things other people can only dream of.
The courage Kirk showed in his last months is remarkable
good bye my friend

I had the pleasure of employing Kirk as a casual paramedic in my organisation. I always admired Kirk's adventurous nature and given our shared passion for scuba diving, I eagerly anticipated the many photos he would share with me from his trips. I just learned of his passing today, and I share in your grief.

Dear Leader family,
My deepest and sincere condolences. I worked with Kirk in Points North. At times we only had a few hours to chat while one of us was coming on shift, or waiting for the plane to fly home. The crazy shark stories that Kirk would tell were always followed up with picture proof. I thought he was crazy, and he laughed at me for being afraid of those underwater "critters" as I called them. What an amazing human being who was so full of adventure. He lived his life with vigour and opportunity, waiting for the next shark encounter or traveling opportunity. And a brilliant paramedic. I learned so much from you. You are an inspiration my friend.

My sincere condolences to Kirks family. I remember Kirk as a happy, talkative boy growing up with good friends around him. Always entertaining. Reading about his wonderful adventures. Take comfort in the knowledge that Kirks was a life well lived and he will live on in the hearts of many friends.

My deepest condolences to the Leader family. Only time can help ease the pain of this loss.
Kirk was one of a kind, to say the least! He often shared memories of his many adventures and was fascinated by the places he had visited and people he met along the way. He will always be a great inspiration for me.
Miss your big smile kirk, gone but never forgotten. RIP friend.

When I am dead
Cry for me a little,
Think of me sometimes
But not too much.
Think of me now and again
As I was in life
But not for long
Let your thoughts be with the living.
Goodbye my friend, I have lots of great memories which I intend on thinking about and laughing out loud.
