KECHO, Elizabeth (nee Padar)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Kecho on Saturday, April 12, 2014. During the last days of Elizabeth's life, she was surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, Steve; parents, Ivan and Annie; brothers, John, Steve, Ivan and Frank; sisters, Mary Szeles, Annie Campbell and Helen Mihalicz. Left to mourn her loss are her daughters, Joyce (Richard) Lazar, Joan (Anton) Sentes and Mary Anne (Bill) Glute; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Mihalicz, Julia Granatier, and Christina Padar as well as her numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to Elsie Blattner, who was a great friend to mom and helped her out whenever needed. Elizabeth was born and raised near Lestock, SK. She married Steve Kecho in 1938 and they remained in the Lestock area where they raised their family. She took great pride in her home and opened it up freely to one and all. Everyone enjoyed her wonderful cooking and everyone was considered family in Elizabeth's home. Most important in Elizabeth's life were her family and her strong faith. After Steve passed away in 1989, she moved to Regina, SK, and lived there until November 2012. Elizabeth then moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Bill, at Sangudo, Alberta, until her passing. Elizabeth's family is most grateful to Mary Anne and Bill for taking wonderful care of mom over the last year and a half. Her happiest times were when she was travelling and attending family functions. She enjoyed taking in many of her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's activities such as car racing, hockey, cheerleading, dancing, skating, and many more. A CELEBRATION OF ELIZABETH'S LIFE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Elizabeth may be made to the Mayerthorpe Health Services, Box 30, Mayerthorpe, AB, T0E 1N0 (cheques payable to Alberta Health Services).
