VANDENBERGHE, Douglas George
Douglas was born on September 20, 1941 in Winnipeg, MB and passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 12, 2014 in Regina. Douglas leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Pat of 50 years; sons Grant (Rosalie), Mark (Jessica) and Kent (Natashia); grandchildren Luke, Laura, Katharina, Matthew, Owen and Cole and brother Wayne. Douglas was raised on a farm outside Winnipeg. After obtaining his engineering degree at the University of Manitoba, he worked for Atomic Energy Canada for a number of years. Upon completing his masters and doctorate at the University of Saskatchewan, he moved to Regina where he taught Engineering at the University of Regina until his retirement. Throughout his life he was passionate about education, science, volunteerism and travelling. He enjoyed photography, Tai Chi, writing and most of all, spending time with his family. Above all, he will be remembered for the love and good times with his sons, his grandchildren and most of all his beloved Pat. A CELEBRATION OF DOUGLAS'S LIFE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Douglas may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8 or Arthritis Society, 110, 2550 – 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
