LA HAY, Sharon (nee Knight)
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sharon in Medicine Hat, AB on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the age of 70 years. She was predeceased by her parents Arley and Evelyn Irwin; brother Donald; and sister Deanna Kornum. Sharon will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ken; sister Miriam Watts; brother Gary (Diane) Irwin; aunt Edna Weins; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In her early years Sharon worked as an X-Ray Teck (Darkroom Developer) and as a nurses aid at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, ON. Sharon was very active within the deaf/blind community in Medicine Hat, teaching brail and two hand sign language at the Medicine Hat College. Sharon learned brail at the School For The Blind in Brantford ON followed by college and university courses. Sharon was active in blind sports, winning many awards in her class. She was a bit of a globe trotter, as well with her past husband who was a pilot with Air Canada. She was very self- reliant using her faithful dog guides Nahanie and Taylor. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sharon may be made to the Medicine Hat Public Library. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. A Memorial Service for friends and those who knew Sharon over the years will be held at St Barnabis Church, in Medicine Hat, AB on August 8, 2014 with the time to be announced. A small lunch will follow in the church hall. Arrangements entrusted to
