Roy NELSON Obituary
On March 26, 2012 Roy Nelson of Regina passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 86 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years Kay; daughters Donna (Ken) Sewell and Sheree (Greg) Emmerson; daughter-in-law Deidre (Jody) Harden; eight grandchildren Kirby Sewell, Troy (Roxanne) Sewell, Kenda Sewell, Amanda (Cameron) Kaeding, Micheal (Amy) Vanin, Jeffrey (Susan) Vanin, Travis (Nichole) Nelson and Tara (Cole) Labbee; ten great-grandchildren; sisters June Wilson and Mabel Jalbert; sisters-in-law Phyllis Nelson and Joan Humphries; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He was predeceased by his son Ricky; parents Otto and Karen and brothers Walter and Andy. Roy's entrepreneurial spirit took him as far as Texas and as close as his beloved hometown of Glentworth, SK. His passion for politics and people led him to serve his community in many different capacities and his province as MLA for the Assiniboia-Gravelbourg constituency. His love for his family and friends was unsurpassed. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East in Regina on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. A CELEBRATION LUNCHEON will follow in the Glentworth Community Hall at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3. Dear Kay and Family,
We want to extend our sympathy to all of your family. Bill got to know Roy when he and Jack Weibe roomed with him in Regina as rookie MLA's in 1978. Many lengthy discussions, friendly banter and lots of laughter. Roy Nelson will be remembered as committed and hard working for what he believed in. Thank you, Ted Malone for contacting us.
