Dorothy Scott, late of Fillmore, Weyburn and Regina, SK; Nelson, BC; Picton and Belleville, ON, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at the age of 99 years. She will be sadly missed by her family and everyone that knew her well. Predeceased by her loving husband James Lachlan ("Lochie") in 1998; parents George and Harriet Ballard; brothers Clarence and Harvey. Dorothy is survived by nieces and nephews; Lynda (Greg) Geddis of Prince Edward County, Ontario; Lyle (Marion) of Weyburn, SK; Lawrence Ballard of Regina, SK, and James (Beth) Morton of Bettendorf, Iowa. Dorothy will be most fondly remembered by family and friends as the loving wife of her husband Lochie who was the Postmaster in Fillmore for many years. After Lochie retired, their passion was to travel extensively throughout Canada and the United States as well as to many other destinations around the world. Since 2005, "Aunt Dot" has lived in southeastern Ontario to be close to her niece Lynda and family. In May, 2009, after recovering from surgery for a broken hip, she was fortunate to have moved into the Richmond Retirement Residence, in Belleville, Ontario. Since then, she received excellent care there. Lynda and family are very grateful for that wonderful care and wish to thank everyone at The Richmond, as well as Dr. Shipley, for all of their efforts in keeping her comfortable during her stay and for the compassion they showed Aunt Dot through the days leading up to her passing. As per Dorothy's request, there will be no funeral service. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Memorial Gardens in Regina. Those so wishing, may make a donation in Dorothy's memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, toll free 1-888-473-4636.
