WAWRO, KAREN DAWN
Karen passed away peacefully on August 6, 2013. She was born April 23, 1958 in Regina, Saskatchewan where she was raised. Karen was predeceased by her mother, Eleanor Wawro nee Buss and Uncle Gerald Buss. She is lovingly remembered by her father, Dorland (Don) Wawro, sister Kim Searow, Aunts Pauline Buss, Sandra Cocks nee Wawro (Dennis), Deb Knightson nee Buss and many cousins. Karen's joys in life included swimming laps in the pool while sister Kim coached from the deck and anything to do with Elvis: singing Elvis songs, watching Elvis movies, going to Elvis tribute concerts and especially visiting Graceland and Tupelo with sister Kim. She also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, California and Arizona and golfing with her Mom and Dad. In spite of her tribulations, Karen's lovely smile and sparkling blue eyes brightened our days. During her 11 years in North Vancouver, Karen swam for Special Olympics and was in the Mixed Abilities Choir under the direction of Jill Parsons. Through CLS and North Shore ConneXions, Karen participated in the walking club, drumming circle, yoga, coffee house and the recycling program.
The family gives a special thanks to the caring staff at Shone Road, the staff at the Palliative Care Floor of Lions Gate Hospital and Dr. Barb Hejdankova.
