Patrick Rene Deshaies
1927 – 2014
On Monday June 2, 2014, Patrick Deshaies, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 years in Regina. Pat was predeceased by: his wife Georgette, parents, Jeffry and Berthe, daughter Carol two brothers, Jack and Yoland, four sisters Aline, Martha, Yvette , Jean and numerous brother and sister-in-law, nieces and nephews. Pat is survived by his children Judy (Bert West), Jim (Marie Deshaies) and Marlene (Rick Dinelle) his partner of seven years Selma Bellevance, brother Robert (Margaret Deshaies) and Simone Jalbert, sister-in-law Regina Pengelly and Maria Wudwud, brother-in-law Bernard Dean, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Pat was born January 29, 1927 in Fir Mountain, Sask. He left home at age of 13 and joined the Army at age 16 where he served from 1943 to 1945. After returning home from overseas, he did various jobs, including custom combining and working in the nickel mine in Sudbury. He purchased his mixed farm in Kennedy, Sask. in 1948. He married Georgette Piche in 1949, and they had four children. He retired from the farm in 1975, and moved into Kennedy. Pat took on several other jobs, including janitor at the school, and carpentry work. He was a determined man, who could perform any task. Pat liked to keep busy, but also enjoyed his down time. He liked camping, fishing, traveling and wood working. He also enjoyed his time at Kenosee Lake. He was an avid read. Most of all, he enjoyed being around his family. He was a kind, lovable man, who loved to tease. He will be missed by many. Rest in Peace, Dad. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Kennedy, SK on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m . by the Very Rev. Hector Seville. Cremation with interment in St. Ann's Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Saskatchewan Heart and Stroke Foundation, 279-3rd Ave N. Saskatoon, Sask. S7K 2H8.
