LLOYD CAMPBELL Obituary

Published by Regina Leader-Post from May 28 to Jun. 3, 2016.
CAMPBELL, Lloyd Harris
On Wednesday, May 25, 2016, Lloyd Harris Campbell, born on January 4, 1915, passed away peacefully at the William Albert House in Emerald Park, SK. He was predeceased by his loving wife Wilma (nee Hubbard); his parents Alexander and Eva Campbell; mother and father-in-law Grace and Charles Hubbard; sister Verna Evans; brothers Glen, Donald and Garnet; sister-in-law Fern Campbell; brothers-in-law William 'Bill' Evans, Nick Lazaruk and Ken Hubbard; and nephew Gregory Hubbard. Lloyd is survived by his loving family, sister Margaret Smith; brother Gordon Campbell; sisters- in-law Grace and DeVerne Campbell, Pat Lazaruk and Edith Hubbard; brother-in-law Archie Smith; children Jo Campbell (Jim Hipkin), Tamara Campbell, Alexander "Sandy" (Lanny) Campbell and Erin Campbell (Dan Howell); grandchildren Joel Campbell, Courtney (Todd) Bodnar, Georgia Hipkin and Cassidy Howell; great- grandchildren Cacherel and Lachlan Campbell and Autumn and Emma Bodnar; and a clan of cousins, nieces and nephews. There were a few things Lloyd really loved – nature, health, family, friends, being an entrepreneur and a sportsman. Lloyd invested a lifetime studying the connections between all living things and made a good living and life in partnership with the land. He enjoyed many family gatherings, and loved to play jokes on family and friends. Lloyd also loved the thrill of business, taking risks and betting on his odds of winning, leveraging his tenacity, vitality and a keen strategic mind. As a sportsman he was competitive, always keen to pursue the win. Lloyd participated in three Brier Championships (1947, 1955 and 1957), winning the Brier with three of his brothers in 1955, Saskatchewan's Jubilee year. He always said if you don't have your health, you have nothing to go on, so although he worked extremely hard, he took care of himself, overcame many health challenges and lived more than a century. The family invites all those wishing to celebrate Lloyd's legacy to join us at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. A Private Family Interment will take place at a later date. The family wishes to extend appreciation and gratitude for the loving and compassionate care provided by the William Albert House administration, staff and resident friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lloyd may be made to the William Albert House, 333 Emerald Park Road, Emerald Park, SK S4L 1C9. Family and friends are invited to sign the online obituary and tributes page at www.reginafuneralhome.ca. Arrangements entrusted to

Lloyd's having fun in heaven. He's joking and having fun with family and Bentley friends. I have not forgotten this sweet little man. His jokes the twinkle in his eyes. Him calling down to the front. Hi this is Lloyd Campbell in 223. I still miss him coming down to breakfast in his scooter. I know his children will miss their dad forever. I've seen the love they had for him. Lots of laughter. He seemed like a wonderful dad. I was given something very special from one of his girls to remember him. I will cherish it forever. Thank-you so much. And to you my angel friend have fun in heaven. Love ya.

To the entire Campbell Family,
On behalf of the "John Taylor" cousins side of the family w wish to send our deepest condolences on the passing of Lloyd. Just a short couple of weeks ago we were having a conversation about the "Curling Campbell" cousins and wondering how everyonewas doing, not having known about Lloyd's passing until yesterday. Jo, I still remember the year you spent loving in the basement of my Mom & Dad's (John & June) house on 12th St. in Saskatoon while you & I attended the U.of S. What fun we had then! Although we havn't seen any of you since the Miller Picnics stopped, we still think of you all and wonder how everyone is doing and where you're all at. We're saddened to learn of the passing of the one of the "Greats" if the family and also of the Curling World. We're honoured to have known Lloyd and to have the familial connection through our Miller Grandmothers. Hugs and Prayers.

The Campbell clan
Our sincere condolences to all of you on the loss of your patriarch, Lloyd, a man for whom we have a very high regard. Lloyd set a great example to follow, he was a mentor to myself and passed on his wisdom to many others.
Remembering...curling at Avonlea, Gramma Eva's tea, and those Turkey curls. Lots of fun memories. Hugs to all.

I met Lloyd through the Toronto branch of the Campbell family tree. It was most often at a Curling club during some event or rather. However, little time was spent watching the curling when Lloyd sat beside you, as he very quickly engaged you in a stimulating conversation that eventually ended in the parking lot. Remember it well and truly enjoyed the exchange of heartfelt views. He has lived a long life and now truly deserves to go rest high on that mountain. My sincerest condolences to all the Campbell family that will share in the loss of this unique man.

Jo, Tammy, Sandy, Erin and Families

Sorry for the loss of your Dad and Grandpa.

Mom also sends her sympathies. Talking to her today she was saying Lloyd certainly was a jokster. She remembers him putting a mouse on the ironing board and covering it with a paper many times. She is scared of mice. And one time she said she went to her car to go home and there was a muskrat on the seat. A lot of memories over the years.

Our thoughts will be with you on Sat. as we are sorry we won't be able to attend due to other commitments on that day.

So sorry for your loss. Thinking of you all at this time.
