Anna "Gene" Harris, 86, of Glen Carbon, formerly of Vandalia, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Meridian Village Care Center in Glen Carbon.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Fairlawn Cemetery, with Dr. Ward Sussenbach officiating. Friends and family may gather at the cemetery between 10:30 and 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Mrs. Harris was born on July 21, 1926, in Russellville, Ark., the daughter of Fay O. and Glenie Lewis Allen. She married Rollie Harris Jr. on March 6, 1944, in Little Rock, Ark.; he died on Uune 21, 1986.
She was previously employed by The Leader-Union, Denny's Department Store and Shulman Brothers Oil; was a member of First Baptist Church and Daughters of the American Revolution; and was a charter member of the Fayette County Genealogical Society.
She is survived by a son, Richard Harris and his wife Edie of Edwardsville; daughter, Robin Finkbohner of Euless, Texas; grandchildren, Chris Golden, Jaime Golden, Debbie and her husband Dan Winter, Anna Harris, and Jennifer and her husband Bob Betz; great-grandchildren, Mara Golden, Lucas Betz, and Ray, Gus, Emma and Abby Winter; and sisters, Dorothy Mathis and Kathleen Dugger, both of Junction City, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Linda Gauntt.
