Don L. Wells, 75, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at his home.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Sacred Heart Church in Hot Springs Village. Visitation was held from 4:30-6 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Cedar Vale Funeral Home in Hot Springs Village was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Vandalia Youth Organization Junior Football League or
Mr. Wells was born on June 27, 1938, in Carlyle, the son of Herschel and Mildred Wells. He married Kay Christ, also of Carlyle, on June 11, 1960.
He was a graduate of McKendree College in Lebanon, where he was a member of the Bearcats basketball team. He was a teacher, coach and principal in both St. Elmo and Plano, retiring in 1983. He then worked for JS Latta Inc. until moving to Arkansas in 1996.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Craig Wells and his wife Cindy of Morton, Todd Wells and his wife Dawn of Plano, and Darin Wells and his wife Melissa of Vandalia; daughter, Cyndi and her husband Greg Torkelson of Bolingbrook; sister, Doris and her husband Ray Elling of Carlyle; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
