Doris Ruby Mercier, 86, of St. Peter, passed away at 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with the Rev. William Emrick officiating. Burial was in the St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until time of services last Thursday. Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Mercier was born on May 3, 1927, in St. Peter, the daughter of Walter and Etta Moeller Schnake. She was baptized in 1927 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church and was confirmed in 1941.
She married Harry A. Mercier on May 12, 1946; he died on Aug. 30, 1991. They were blessed with two sons, Gary Mercier and Donald Mercier.
Mrs. Mercier was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church all of her life. She was a faithful member of LWML and a member of the St. Peter Ladies Aid, was a Sunday school teacher and Braille worker, and she loved to quilt. She also loved and served her Lord, Jesus.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Mercier and his wife Susan of Grafton, Wis., and Donald Mercier and his wife Cynthia of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sisters, Elaine and her husband Richard Kruger of Rolesville, N.C., Charlene and her husband Gale Courson of Farina, Betty Rubin of St. Peter, and Frances and her husband Justin Wald of Springfield, Mo.; granddaughters, Julie, Amy, Alecia and Andrea; and great-grandchildren, Allison Demerath, Jacob Demerath and Sophie Stuerkenberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Bernice Rubin.
