John Loyd Carson, 103, of Godfrey, formerly of the Brownstown area, died on Tuesday morning, April 9, 2013, at United Methodist Village in Godfrey.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Godfrey. His ashes will be interred in the church's prayer garden during a private family ceremony. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, both at the church. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Godfrey First United Methodist Church, BJC Hospice in Alton and United Methodist Village.
Mr. Carson was born on March 25, 1910, in rural Brownstown, the son of Johnny and Daisy Carson. He married Rosemary Quade on June 5, 1942, in Brownstown.
Survivors include his wife; and daughters, Dr. Sandra and her husband Dr. Jay Stanley, Marcia and her husband Rodney Thornton, Becky and her husband Jim Whiteside, and Paula Carson and her husband Dennis Wilson.
