Roy P. Carruthers, 78, of Ramsey, died on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at his home.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Ramsey, with Pastor David Hall officiating. Burial was in Sharon Cemetery in rural Ramsey. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, with Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m., and one hour before services on Tuesday, both at the church. Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Carruthers was born on May 28, 1935, in Wallworth County, Wis., the son of Claude P. and Ima S. Hardimon Carruthers. He married Judy Ann Snider on Aug. 18, 1959, in Patoka.
He was a retired plaster and drywall finisher and a farmer; a member of Vera Baptist Church and A.F. & A.M. Lodge of Herrick; and he served in the Army
He is survived by his wife; sons, Steven Carruthers and his wife Stephanie of Bingham, and Sam Carruthers of Patoka; daughters, Pam and her husband Steve Marlow of Centralia, Shelly and her husband Kevin Keppler of Vandalia, Deena and her husband Robert Mosbarger of Flora, Lawanda "Jane" Carruthers of Springfield, and Wanita and her husband Jason Lister of Louisburg, Mo.; brothers, Richard, Cloide "Jr." and Daniel Carruthers, all of Ramsey; sisters, Imogene Koepnick of Elkhorn, Wis., Helen Culbertson of Vandalia, Donna Depew of Shiloh, and Nancy Stanton of Coffeen; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
