Obituary

Bernice Rogers, 88, of Morris, formerly of Vandalia, passed away on Saturday morning, March 23, 2013, at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., Morris, with Pastor Patrick Lohse officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Rogers was born on Aug. 2, 1924, in Vandalia, the daughter of Grover and Mary Braun Thacker. She married William E. Rogers on July 25, 1948, in Vandalia; he died on Feb. 17, 2005. They lived most of their married life in Vandalia and Morris.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 294, Ladies Auxiliary to John Martin Steele VFW Post 6-49 and Ladies of the Loyal Order of the Moose-Lodge 967. She enjoyed dancing and visiting with friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Winchester of Wilmington; grandchildren, Shannon and her husband Robert Cupp of Morris and Joe Rogers of Aurora; niece, Sandra Hunter of Edwardsville; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, William A. Rogers, on Sept. 18, 1993; and sisters, Beulah Wasmuth and Lucille Ehrat.
