Beryl Dean Leininger, 84, of Vandalia, passed away at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Crown Point Church in rural Vandalia, with the Rev. Pete LeDuc officiating. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with military rites accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia and VFW Post 9770 of Brownstown. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the church. Memorials: Crown Point Church or donor's choice. Mr. Leininger was born on Aug. 25, 1934, in Shobonier, the son of Earl and Gladys (Anderson) Leininger. He married Alta Lee Horton on June 2, 1956, and together they raised three children and celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Beryl was a former construction worker. He was a member of the local millwright's union, Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 and Crown Point Church.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Scott Leininger of Vandalia, and Brent Leininger and wife Becky of Odin; daughter, Lori and husband Kevin Devore of Mulberry Grove; and grandchildren, Kurtis Devore and Jeremy Leininger.
