Burl D. Brumfield, 71, of Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday at Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka, with graveside services to follow at Vernon Cemetery, with the Rev. David Rodgers officiating. Memorials: Second Chance Rescue. Online condolences may be shared at www.daymaczfuneralhomes.com.
Mr. Brumfield was born on March 16, 1943, the son of Raymond Francis and Eva Lucille Knutt Brumfield. He married Shirley Lawson on Sept. 26, 1964, in Vernon; she passed away on May 29, 2013.
He worked as a farmer until his retirement. He enjoyed deer and quail hunting, training bird dogs and restoring Oliver tractors. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Angie and her husband David Gathe of Vernon; brother-in-law, Bob Thalman of Vernon; sister-in-law, Carol Brumfield of Madison, Wis.; stepgrandchildren, Clayton Gathe and his wife Brandi, and Andrea Gathe and her fiancée Mark Meadows, both of Vandalia; great-stepgrandchild, Payton Gathe of Vandalia; nephews, Kenneth Brumfield and Kelly Brumfield, both of Bonnie; niece, Pam and her husband Ron Crawford of Vernon; and special friends, Max and Kathy Ehrat, and Rebecca Vernon, all of Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his wife; sister, Virginia Thalman; brother, Bill Brumfield; and nephew, Kevin Brumfield.
