Charles "Charlie" Segrest, 55, of Vandalia, passed away at 12:52 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Northside Christian Church in Vandalia, with the Revs. Curtis Sweeney and Pee Wee Denton officiating. Burial will be in Cress Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the church. Memorials: The family. Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Segrest was born on March 22, 1961, in Litchfield, the son of Amos and Mabel (Agney) Segrest. He married Debbie Woods on March 21, 1997.
Charlie worked as a long-haul truck driver for B.L. Logistics. He enjoyed spending time with his family and pets, playing PlayStation, grilling, gardening and listening to country music.
He is survived by his parents; wife; son, Josh Segrest and his fiancée Kassie Kelley of Vandalia; stepson, Jason Bender and his wife Angie of Chicago; brothers, Roy Segrest and his wife Brenda of Coffeen, and Steve Segrest of Hillsboro; sister, Mary and her husband Jeff Combs of Coffeen; grandchildren, Alexia Vandiver and Emily LaMar, and one on the way; uncle, Rex Segrest; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
