Claude Arthur Willard Peper Jr., 60, of Greenville, died at 9:59 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, in the emergency room at Greenville Regional Hospital in Greenville.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Greenville First Christian Church, with Darryl Bolen officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, with full military honors accorded by the Lincoln Land Leathernecks, American Legion Post 282 and VFW Post 1380. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at the church. Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Greenville Fire Protection District or First Christian Church.
Mr. Peper was born on March 5, 1955, in Centralia, the son of Claude Alvin Eugene Sr. and Marilyn Sue (Meyers) Peper. He married Sally J. Bayless on Aug. 30, 1975, in Nashville, Ill.; she died on Nov. 18, 2008. He married Sandra K. Buttrum on June 7, 2014.
Survivors include his wife; children, Andrew A. Peper of Greenville, Adam M. Peper and his wife Amber of Ellisville, Mo., Emily J. Peper of Greenville, and Erin E. and her husband Nate Whisler of Olney; and stepchildren, Jeremy L. Buttrum and his wife Caryl of Parkersburg, Kristina K. and her husband Jeremy Weidner of Edgewood, and Kari L. and her husband Calame of Beecher City.
