Dale Ross "Buckwheat" Kaiser, 79, of Vandalia, formerly of Assumption, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016, in Vandalia.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at noon on Thursday at Liberty Cemetery in rural Brownstown, with the Rev. Jim Dann officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. on Thursday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia. Memorials: Mooseheart. Online condolences may be expressed at www.millerfh.net.
Mr. Kaiser was born on March 15, 1937, in Lane, the son of Kyle S. and Minnie F. (Harris) Kaiser.
He was a retired highway construction superintendent with Midwest Fence Corp. in Chicago, and a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Navy. He was a life member of the VFW; a member of Vandalia Moose Lodge No. 1447 and Vandalia Country and Golf Club; and was affiliated with Liberty Christian Church in rural Brownstown.
He is survived by a sister, Reva and her husband Lloyd Woolard of Vandalia; grandchildren, Rob Kaiser and his wife Molly of Greensboro, N.C., and Angie Kaiser of Decatur; great-grandchildren, Ben, Claire and Maddie; and foster daughter, Christine Ortmann of Festus, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wayne Kaiser, in 2015; a brother, Roger Kaiser; and his stepmother, Rella (Gaugh) Kaiser.
