Daniel Eugene Hall, 69, of Vandalia, passed away on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at the emergency room at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with military rites accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia and Brownstown VFW Post 9770. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday and one hour before services on Tuesday, both at the funeral home. Memorials: Vandalia Senior Renewal. Mr. Hall was born on Aug. 21, 1947, in Vandalia, the son of Donald F. and Norma Jean (Carson) Hall.
Dan was a truck driver and later an assistant manager at P.N. Hirsch Warehouse. He later retired as a shipping supervisor from John Crane Packing. Dan served in the U.S. Air Force from July 1966-June 1970. He was a member of Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 in Vandalia and Masonic Temperance Lodge No. 16 A.F.&A.M., and a life member of Ducks Unlimited. Dan really enjoyed going to Senior Renewal and socializing with friends.
He is survived by sons, Shawn Hall of Charleston, W.Va., and T.J. Hall and his wife Allison of Ramsey; Annette McClintock and Gary Redfern of Vandalia; grandsons, Hayden Hall and Bradyn McClintock; and special friend, Viola Blankenship of Vandalia.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
