David W. Brown, 82, of Vandalia, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at his home in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia, with the Revs. Kurt Simon and Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with military rites accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia and VFW Post 9770 of Brownstown. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the church. Memorials: Fayette County Health Department Hospice or First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia. Mr. Brown was born on Sept. 25, 1932, in Aurora, the son of L. Harold Brown and Bernice (Towle) Herman. David was raised primarily in the Harrisburg area, where he met and married his wife, Betty J. (Fulkerson) Brown on Nov. 11, 1952.
David and Betty moved to the Vandalia area for convenience reasons, for it was near the center of David's territory as a boot and shoe sales representative for BB Walker Shoe Co. of North Carolina. David was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia, Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia and VFW Post 9770 of Brownstown.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Cindy and her husband Randy Woolsey of Patoka, Beth and her husband Larry Redman of Fillmore, and Kathy Draege of Vandalia and the late Tony Draege; grandchildren, Sara (Tom) Doyle, Tony (Ashlee) Woolsey, Lucas (Joanna) Redman, Zach (Chrissy) Redman, Blaine (Robyn) Redman, Alex (Tori) Redman, Brian (Tara) Tritt, Emalie (Shannon) Babb, Michael (Brandi) Meyer, Aaron Draege, Jake (Emily) Draege, and Colton Draege; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Towle Brown; and son-in-law, Tony Draege.
