Deborah A. 'Dixie' Merrill, 64, Brownstown
Deborah Ann "Dixie" Merrill, 64, of Brownstown, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014, in her home.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Pete LeDuc officiating. Burial will be in Griffith Cemetery in rural Brownstown. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Friends and Families of Fayette County Hospital. Deborah was born on Aug. 19, 1949, in Vandalia, the daughter of James and Shirley Sperry Curry.
She was retired from Fayette County Hospital, where she worked for more than 25 years. She enjoyed writing poetry and was well-known for her homemade fudge.
She is survived by a son, Mike Merrill of Brownstown and friend Deborah Wright of Altamont; granddaughter, Lacey Merrill of Vandalia; grandson, Britton Merrill and Jessie Newberry of Ramsey; five great-granddaughters; sister, Marcia and her husband Verlin Haslett of Florida; and brothers, Tom Curry and his wife JoAnn of Brownstown, and John Curry and his wife Leasa of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
