Delbert E. Miller, 76, of Brownstown, passed away at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at Aperion Care in St. Elmo.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at First Christian Church in Brownstown, with Jim Dann officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in rural Brownstown. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday and one hour before services on Tuesday, both at the church. Memorials: First Christian Church of Brownstown or donor's choice. Mr. Miller was born on Wednesday, July 23, 1941, in Decatur, the son of Ted and Iva (Grandfield) Miller. He married Karen Smith Helm on Dec. 21, 1979, in an airplane flying over the family farm.
He was a graduate of Brownstown High School with the class of 1959. He was a retired farmer and airport operator. He was a flight instructor, pilot, airplane mechanic and crop duster. He was a member of First Christian Church, Fayette County Hospital District Board and Fayette County Soil & Water Conservation District Board, and served as a Sefton Township trustee.
He is survived by his wife of more than 37 years, Karen; son, Samuel Miller of Brownstown; daughters, Wanda (Roger) Powell of Yukon, Okla., and Carol (Brad) Goddart of Collinsville, Okla.; sister-in-law, Betty Miller of Brownstown; grandchildren, Ryan Powell, Ashley Shaw, Joshua Guess and Brody Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jesse Miller.
