Donald Paul "Don" Blair, 90, of Vandalia, died at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with the Rev. Carl Rhodes officiating and military rites accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia. There is no visitation. Mr. Blair was born on March 31, 1922, in Vandalia, the son of Arthur and Irene Ward Taylor. He married Eula Maxine Harrison on April 13, 1947, in Vandalia; she died on July 7, 2006.
He was a farmer and served in the Navy during World War II. He was a life member of Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia, life member and past commander of VFW Old Capitol Post 3862 of Vandalia and a member of Vandalia Moose Lodge 1447, and was affiliated with Northside Christian Church in Vandalia.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Blair of Vandalia; sons, Daniel Blair and his wife Debra of Fillmore, and Dennis Blair and his wife Brenda of Ramsey; brothers, Kenny Taylor of Janesville, Wis., and Bob Taylor of Vandalia; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Darrell Blair; brother, Arthur Taylor Jr.; and sister, Elsie Parke.
