Donald T. "Don" Brown, 89, of Vandalia, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, in Springfield.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Randy Sands officiating. Private burial will follow at McInturff Cemetery in rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials: Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 in Vandalia, McInturff Cemetery or Greenville College Scholarship Fund. Online condolences can be expressed at www.millerfh.net.
Mr. Brown was born on July 21, 1928, in Schram City, the son of David Arnold and Elvira May (Richardson) Brown. He married Pauline Mae Cunningham on May 26, 1951, in Taylorville.
He was a retired superintendent of schools at various school districts in Illinois, a U.S. Army veteran, and member of Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 in Vandalia and NRA.
He is survived by his wife; son, Ron Brown and Sherri of Vandalia; and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bernice Osborne.
