Doris Mae Vogt, 81, of Effingham, formerly of Fayette County, passed away at 7:50 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
Services will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials: Effingham County Humane Society or donor's choice. Online condolences can be expressed at www.bauerfh.com.
Mrs. Vogt was born on Jan. 21, 1935, in Fayette County, the daughter of Melvin and Ruth (Mills) Thompson. She married Clem J. Vogt on Aug. 23, 1991.
Doris worked for many years in a hospital, as well as in in-home care, as a certified nurse's assistant. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Carl Rogers and his wife Ranee of Hillsboro, Rod Rogers and his wife Sissy of Brownstown, and Mike Rogers and David Rogers, both of Colchester; stepson, Tom Vogt and his wife Crystal of Effingham; stepdaughters, Sue and her husband Lynn Marvin of Effingham, Joyce and her husband Phil Mathews of Effingham, Christie and her husband Chad Sexton of Clinton, Ind., and Amy Vogt of Effingham; brother, Darrell Thompson and his wife Donna of Brownstown; sister, Jan Moore of Vandalia; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; and five great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepgrandson, Philip; five brothers and two sisters.
