Dorothy A. 'Dot' Pittenger, 76, Vandalia
Dorothy A. "Dot" Pittenger, 76, of Vandalia, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Jerry Bagwell officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ramsey. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the church. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery or Crossroads Cancer Center in Effingham. Online condolences may be shared at www.millerfh.net.
Mrs. Pittenger was born on Jan. 15, 1937, in Fayette County, the daughter of Albert H. and Esther A. Freitag Hulskotter. She married Sherrell Pittenger on Aug. 8, 1957, in Vandalia.
She was a retired teller at First Bank, a former employee of Princess Peggy Dress Factory and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, all in Vandalia.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Danny Pittenger of Vandalia, and Rick Pittenger and his wife Amy of Brownstown; brothers, Richard Hulskotter and his wife Carol of Effingham, Raymond Hulskotter and his wife Libby of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Derald Hulskotter and his wife Kay of Vandalia; and grandchild, Ashley Pittenger; and great-grandchild, Trevan Pittenger.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ruthie Carruthers.
