Dorothy A. Schneider, 92, of Vandalia, formerly of O'Fallon, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015, in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Reiss Chapel in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, with the Rev. Dr. Martha Thierheimer officiating. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday in Reiss Chapel in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights. Memorials: United Church of Christ, or donor's choice. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements, with Lake View Memorial Gardens assisting on the services. Online condolences may be shared at
Mrs. Schneider was born on July 3, 1922, in Belleville, the daughter of Jacob and Sophia Seiffertt Yocks. She married Leslie William Schneider on July 6, 1940, in O'Fallon; he passed away on May 16, 1967.
She was a retired cook for O'Fallon Township High School, and a member of United Church of Christ in O'Fallon and Women of the Moose-Belleville Lodge.
She is survived by a son, Drew Schneider and his wife Sherry of Vandalia; daughter, Denise and her husband Mike Berk of Woodlawn; sister, Mae Schoenborn of Lak Panasoffkee, Fla.; grandchildren, Jason Berk and his wife Amber, Justin Berk and his wife Ashleigh, Brandon Berk and his wife Jami, Drew Schneider and his wife Jenna, Dawn and her husband Joe Rosborough, and Gretchen and her husband Carter Bland; great-grandchildren, Carly, Drake, Nolan, Griffin, Sydney, Nicholas, Colton, Alyssa, Ava, Ethan, Ayden, Camryn; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; special friend, Pros Weyhaupt; brothers, Leroy, Clifford, Charles "Bud" and Wilbert "Bill" Yocks; and sisters, Ruth Ross and Betty McCollem.
