Earl L. Brackenbush, 85, of Vandalia, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Northside Christian Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Carl Rhodes officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the church. Memorials: Northside Christian Church. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Brackenbush was born on Jan. 25, 1931, in Bingham, the son of Clarence C. and Frieda B. (Donaldson) Brackenbush. He married Ruth Anna Carson on May 11, 1955, in Ramsey.
He was a retired engineer for IBM, a Korean War Army veteran and a member of Northside Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife; sons, David Brackenbush and his wife Anna of Panama, Ill., and John Brackenbush and his wife Kim of Indian Trail, N.C.; daughter, Janet and her husband Rich Zehnacker of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Julie, Ryan, Sara and Carson; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Anna, Sam, Ryden and Blakelyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
