Edward Eugene Ward, 82, of Brownstown, passed away at 10:23 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at Vandalia Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Vandalia.
A private family burial will take place at a later date in Pilcher Cemetery in rural Brownstown. Memorials: Golden Years Building Fund, Pilcher Cemetery, the family or donor's choice. Mr. Ward was born on Thursday, Aug. 31, 1933, in rural Brownstown, the son of Henry and Mary (Smith) Ward. He married Alice Oldham on Saturday, Nov. 17, 1956.
Ed served in the Army during the Korean War, from 1953-55, and he was retired from Union Pacific Railroad.
He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Alice; sons, Jeff Ward of Brownstown, Billy Ward and his wife Brenda of Strasburg, and Jimmy Ward and his wife Lori of Vandalia; sister, Cora Pruett of Brownstown; grandchildren, Christal Ward, Kandi Housley, Anthony Ward and Kelsy Ward; stepgrandchildren, Blake Phegley, Joshua Phegley, Jenny Bunyard, Jessica Bunyard, Jeff Davis, Jeremy Davis and Beth Davis; five great-grandchildren; and 15 great-stepgrandchildren;
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kevin Bradley Ward; and sisters, Marie Kingery and Mary Ruth Kingery.
