Edward John Green, 62, of Vandalia, passed away at 9:12 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in Pinhook Cemetery in rural Vandalia, with Haron Denton officiating and military rites accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia. Memorials: The family. Online condolences may be shared at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Mr. Green was born on March 12, 1952, in Vandalia, the son of Bruce "Aub" Green Sr. and Mildred "Billie" Hanson Green. He married Kathy Hames on Dec. 21, 1990.
He worked construction before retiring. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, was a member of Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia and was affiliated with St. James Lutheran Church in Vandalia.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Melissa Green of Vandalia; stepdaughter, Tiffany Holland of Vandalia; stepson, Justin Holland of Vandalia; sisters, Patricia "Pat" Dunbar of Belleville, Eileen Edwards of Knob Noster, Mo., and Margaret Krajeski of Bakersfield, Calif.; brother, Bruce Green Jr. and his wife Paula of Shobonier; and grandchildren, Ava Knebel and Rylen Warren, both of Vandalia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Will Green.
