Edwin Fredrick "Ed" Adermann, 93, of Vandalia, passed away at 9:25 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Jerry Bagwell officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with military rites accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the church. Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Vandalia Community High School wrestling team, Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 Avenue of Flags or donor's choice. Online condolences may be shared at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Mr. Adermann was born on Jan. 7, 1921, in Witt, the son of Ferdinand Jr. and Ellanora Godberson Adermann. He married Lola Margaret Oberg on May 29, 1946; she passed away on Sept. 22, 2013.
He was the former owner and operator of Higgins' Dry Cleaners in Vandalia, and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 and VFW Post 3862, all of Vandalia. He served in the Army during World War II.
He is survived by a son, Merle Adermann and his wife Georgi of Vandalia; daughters, Genny and her husband Dean Matzker of Vandalia, and Nori and her husband Dan Pruitt of Vandalia; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alvena Noffsinger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Earl Adermann and August Adermann; sister, Freda Moeller; granddaughter, Dana Lynn Adermann Brown; grandson, Ryan Matzker; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Patterson; and nephew, Gary Noffsinger.
