Elton Luther Weaver, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2017, at Dominion Senior Living in Sevierville, Tenn.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, at Lebanon Baptist Church in Falkville, Ala., with visitation one hour before services. The service will be officiated by Mr. Weaver's son, Robert Weaver, pastor of Unity Baptist Church in Vandalia. Memorials: .
Mr. Weaver was born on July 19, 1934, in Centerville, Bibb County, Ala., the son of Willie Wilson and Mary Florence (Hill) Weaver. He married Joyce Heath, daughter of O. B. and Alberta Heath on Nov. 5, 1961, in Columbus, Ga.
Mr. Weaver served in the U.S. Army after graduating from high school, from 1954-56.
Mr. Weaver was an electrician by trade and worked in both the construction and maintenance electrician fields for more than 40 years before retiring at the age of 65 as a plant maintenance electrician at the GM Saginaw Steering Plant in Decatur, Ala. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church of Falkville, Ala., for almost 50 years, serving as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, children's church director, bus driver, mission emphasis director and in many other positions as long as he was able. Mr. Weaver was a person who was always ready to serve others in any way that he could.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Weaver of Sevierville, Tenn., formerly of Hartselle, Ala.; his sons, Bill Weaver and his wife Angie of Auburn, Ala., and Robert Weaver and wife Michelle of Vandalia; daughter, Kathy Weaver of Sevierville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jonathan Weaver and his wife Amber, Lydia and her husband Josh Laughlin, Bethany and her husband Matt Young, and Nathaniel Weaver; great-grandchildren Silas and Corrie Rose Weaver, and Jackson Laughlin; and sister, Mable Neighbors of Hartselle, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ervin Weaver and Wallace Weaver; sisters, Zelma Champion and Elsie Cox; and grandson, Angel Weaver.
