Estella Elizabeth Bail, 95, of St. Elmo, passed away at 1:50 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 20189, at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday at First United Methodist Church in St. Elmo, with the Rev. Dan Laack officiating and a one-hour viewing before the services. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery in St. Elmo. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday at the church. Memorials: Youth Camp Fund at First United Methodist Church, Wounded Warriors or donor's choice. C&A Pagel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences can be expressed at
Mrs. Bail was born on Nov. 20, 1922, in Sefton Township, the daughter of James K. and Alta C. (Carson) Bolds. She married Dewey Martin Bail on July 22, 1940, in St. Charles, Mo.
She enjoyed going to flea markets and auctions, and was an avid reader. Elizabeth and Dewey owned and operated Bail's Timberline Campground and Lake. She spent most of her time work, and loved spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her son, David Bail and wife Sue of Temecula, Calif.; daughter, Leatha Newberry and husband Dee of St. Elmo; son-in-law, Patrick Leach of St. Elmo; sisters, Margaret Mennerick of St. Charles, Ill., and Patsy Payne and husband Steve of Caldwell, Texas; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Judy Leach; brother, Warren Bolds; and sister, Kathryn Militello.
